The French won in straight sets (6-4, 6-4).

For more context, Aleksandar Vukic admitted in 2022 that he always loved to watch Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic battle it out on the court.

"I never really had one in particular.I always loved (Novak) Djokovic and (Rafael) Nadal and the way they competed with each other, but never one standout idol," Vukic told Tennis Australia. During his interview with Tennis Australia, Vukic was also asked if he could steal any stroke from another player, what would it be."With my game, give me Djokovic’s return and I’d be pretty happy," Vukic revealed. When it comes to Gael Monfils, he is set to meet Jannik Sinner in the quarterfinals of Toronto.

On his way to this stage, Sinner defeated compatriot Matteo Berrettini and Andy Murray (walkover). Monfils and Sinner, according to the Italian, have a good relationship, or at least they had in 2021 before Jannik defeated the French in the Sofia final."What Monfils has done in his career is amazing.

He has played a lot of big matches and still moves very well on the court. He's extremely talented and he's a great guy. We have a good relationship, sometimes we joke together in the locker room," Sinner said of Monfils, per Lorenzo Ercoli.
