Selling, Love it or hate it.

Selling, a skill we never think of when we first start out in business.  Selling is seriously not one of my strong points and I avoid it like the plague.  A client of mine who specialises in this area pointed this out to me, eureka, the lights when on and I realised, I never went about learning how to sell and this could be why I am not good at it.  I am very good at promoting others but when it comes to promoting myself, I am pretty much useless.

Months later my client offered to help me with my selling techniques and suggested we do a breakthrough session via Skype but yesterday he suggested we rather do a face to face session.  This makes me think that I must really suck at selling and I need help badly.  I know I need help and I am very grateful to my client for his generous offer.  So I am going to schedule my session and will let you know how I get on.

I would love to hear what you have to say about selling?  What you love about it, hate about it, some funny experiences.

I love my Job – For those who are feeling it today.

While sitting at someone’s desk today waiting on some information, I saw this and made me laugh.  I don’t know who the author is so a tad difficult to give credit.  I do know that it is called

The Lost Dr. Seuss Poem

I love my job, I love the pay!I
love it more and more each day.
I love my boss, he is the best!
I love his boss and all the rest.

I love my office and its location.  I hate to have to go on vacation.  I love my furniture, drab and grey and piles of paper that grow each day.  I think my job is really swell, there’s nothing else I love so well.

I love to work among my peers.  I love their leers and jeers and sneers.

I love my computer and its software.  I hug it often though it won’t care.  I love each program and every file.  I’d love them more if they worked a while.

I’m happy to be here.  I am.  I am.

I’m the happiest slave of the firm, I am.

I love this work, I love these chores.  I love the meetings with deadly bores.

I love my job – I’ll say it again  -  I even love those friendly men.  Those friendly men who’ve come today in clean white coats to take me away!!!

Stop the world and pay attention to yourself

What a few days I have had.  I had a rather challenging experience last week Thursday.  My neck decided to clamp up and go all stiff on me with loads of pain telling me “I need to pay attention“.

I tend to be a bit of an energiser bunny and just go, go, go and my poor body has to try and keep up with me.  I seem to give time to everything else and forget about having me time.

I had to go and see an Osteopath, who in short told me that if I don’t make some drastic changes I will lose the use of the right side of my body.  He said I am running on pure andrenalin and have loads of it, I just don’t stop.  He also told me that I forget to breathe, “What, how is that possible”?  He told me I need to slow down and have me time.  I must do pilates 3 times a week in order to rebuild and get my body to uncompress and lower the andrenalin.

It also reminded me how we can get so caught up in what we are doing and continue to push ourselves in order to keep up with all our responsibilities and yet we forget No. 1 ourselves.  In order to function at optimal level we need to pay attention to ourselves.

Give ourselves a time out, exercise, get enough sleep and regenerate. Relax and have a time out.  Take 30 mins a day and just meditate, meditate on nothing, just be, let the universe speak to you.  Spend a few minutes, at least 15 minutes a day exercising.  Go to bed at the same time each night and get 8 hours of sleep.

Here are some great people to speak to, ask them questions, find out what you can do to improve your current lifestyle and find out how you can incorporate it into your busy schedule.

Liz Chukwu

After my appointment with the Osteopath I immediately got on to the phone to Liz who is a qualified nurse and pilates instructor.  I figured if there was anyone who was going to help me, it was going to be Liz.  She immediately jumped in to help me.  She invited me round to her place to see how we were going to move forward.  She worked on areas of my body.  Explained why my body was behaving the way it is.  Even explained why I stop breathing…

She showed me some techniques and excercises I can do each day.  Nothing major, just small things which can make a big difference.  Now we are getting piliates training in the diary.

What really impressed me about Liz was that she wanted to speak with my Osteopath so that she can fully understand what my current situation is.  She said she wanted to make sure we are all on the same page in order to ensure my full recovery.

Carolyn Williams

Carolyn is a specialist in corporate well being she helps companies keep people healthy and fit in work.  So if your business has a high percentage of absenteeism it may be worth having a chat with Carolyn to see what you can do as an employer to reduce this within your company.  A healthy employee is a happy employee, a health employee is also a productive and efficient employee.

Clare Evans

Now if you are thinking, I just don’t have the time to do it.  Stop right there and make the time.  I also had this constant thought, I don’t have the time.  I just need to do this and oh just one more thing.  Hence I neglected my body and it almost crashed.  If you don’t know how to manage your time or you are feeling overwhelmed then perhaps it would be good to connect with Clare or get her book on Time Management.

Remember, pay attention to yourself.  Put yourself on top of your to do list each week.
